Bank Worries Weigh on Markets as Stocks Drop
Shares that went up on Friday plummeted on Monday. The
markets dropped on Monday after a flurry of disappointing
news about several major financial institutions.
At the close, the Dow Jones industrial average was down
241.81 points, or 2.08 percent, and the broader Standard &
Poor's 500-stock index had declined 25.36 points, or 1.96
percent. The technology heavy Nasdaq was down 2.03 percent of
49.12 points.
